ZENONIA 1 Assassin Build: AGI, Crit and Screen Clears
What the Assassin is for
Paired daggers, the fastest attacks and movement in the game, the highest critical potential, and the weakest armor. An Assassin passive lets AGI add damage (about 2 per point against STR’s 3) while also buying hit rate, criticals and evasion, so it is the one class where a non-STR damage build works. It is also the class most likely to die in two hits, which is why the tier list ranks it below Warrior for a first save.
Stat priority
Two viable directions:
- Balanced (recommended): STR and AGI roughly equal, CON close behind, SPI last but never zero. Community level 50 “one on one” spread: STR 115 / AGI 108 / CON 100 / SPI 60.
- Screen-clear caster: slightly more SPI to fuel Chain Lightning and Thunder Storm. Community level 58 spread: STR 130 / AGI 126 / CON 86 / SPI 86.
Pure-AGI “glass cannon” builds exist and work if you commit to evasion, but evasion is random; the author of the Steam RPG Mechanic Guide beat the game without touching CON and still warns against it for first runs.
Skill priority
Active
| Skill | One-on-one build | Screen-clear build |
|---|---|---|
| Frenzy Sword | 10/10 (stun, your main damage) | 2/10 |
| Chain Lightning | 1/10 | 10/10 |
| Thunder Storm | 9/10 | 8/10 |
| Ice Spear | 1/10 (slows) | 1/10 |
| Burning Spirit | 1/10 | skip |
| Invisibility | 1/10 (disengage) | 1/10 |
| Explosion, Illusion | skip early | skip early |
Passive
| Skill | Target |
|---|---|
| Wrath of the Dragon | 10/10 |
| Will of the Unicorn | 4/4 |
| Recovery of the Eagle | 5/5 to 10/10 |
| Agility of the Lynx | 2/2 |
| Grace of the Crow | 5/10 to 10/10 |
| Focus of the Archer, Tear of Orion, Howl of the Lion | fill afterwards |
Playing it
- Move first, hit second. Golems, the Letter Carrier and Ghost of Ladon all have wind-ups an Assassin can walk out of. The 2010 walkthrough’s Ghost of Ladon tile pattern was written by an Assassin player.
- Wall-locking is not your tool; kiting is. Line enemies up and use Chain Lightning or Thunder Storm on the column.
- Buy the Feather of Oblivion early (Item Gal). AGI gives no carry weight, so an AGI-heavy Assassin ends up overloaded after one dungeon.
- Fifty potions at a time is fine. Evasion covers the rest, and a light inventory keeps you fast.
Gear
Light armor and dagger pairs; only one pair is equipped at a time even though the sprite shows two. Prefer daggers with Frost (slow) or Holy (stun) elements because on-hit effects trigger more often at the Assassin’s attack speed.
Compare with the Warrior build and the Paladin build, and see the class tier list for the first-run verdict.
