ZENONIA 1 Save Files: Location, No Cloud, 0 HP Bug

No cloud saves

ZENONIA 1 shipped on August 31, 2026 without Steam Cloud. It is the single most repeated request on the Steam discussion boards, with at least five separate threads in the first two days, and several negative reviews cite it because the game is Steam Deck Verified and people want to switch between Deck and desktop. Com2us has not responded publicly as of this page’s date.

Where the saves are

Windows

C:\Users\<your user>\AppData\LocalLow\CONFAK\Zenonia\Save_Release

Steam Deck (SteamOS)

/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/4538960/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/CONFAK/Zenonia/Save_Release

Both paths were posted by a player in the discussions and match the standard Unity-style LocalLow layout the game uses.

Moving a save by hand

  1. Close the game on both machines.
  2. Copy the whole Save_Release folder from the source machine.
  3. Paste it over the same folder on the target machine (back up the existing one first).
  4. Launch and load.

Until cloud saves arrive, this is the only way to continue a Deck save on desktop.

Demo saves

The launch notice states that demo saves are not compatible with the full release. The demo covered roughly the first hour, so the loss is small; the beginner guide gets you back to the Cave of Deceit quickly.

The 0 HP softlock

Two players reported the same bug in the first days: if you pause and save at the exact moment Regret’s HP hits 0, that save loads with Regret standing in respawn mode, unable to move, use items or open menus, and enemies ignore him. There is no in-game fix. One player worked around it with a memory editor to set HP above 0, which this site does not walk through. Practical advice:

  • Keep two rotating save slots and never overwrite the older one right after a death.
  • Do not quick save during a death animation; wait for the respawn prompt or the Origin of Life revive.

Other launch bugs worth knowing

  • Some players hit a frozen scene after the Pale fight when the nymphs approach the seal; fast-forwarding the scene, or retrying the fight, got them through.
  • One report of the Item Gal / achievement-point shop not opening.
  • A Windows “il2cpp failed to load” launch error tied to security software blocking unsigned files.

All of these come from the Steam discussions; check there for patch news, and we update this page when Com2us ships fixes.
