ZENONIA 1 Class Tier List (September 2026)
Ranked for a first Steam playthrough on the default balance, using the 2009-2010 community consensus (GameFAQs, Droid Gamers, Neoseeker) plus the September 2026 Steam guide by a returning DSi player. The remaster keeps the original class and growth structure, so the old advice still applies.
S Tier
| Name | Role | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | STR bruiser | Best armor and the biggest hits. Pure STR clears every seal; Berserk Spirit turns every swing into a critical for a boss burn window. The safest pick for a first save. |
A Tier
| Name | Role | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Paladin | Self-healing all-rounder | Restore is the only self-heal in the game, so potion spend drops. Lowest raw damage means slower kills in the level 40-60 stretch, but it is the forgiving class for players who die to Ghost of Ladon. |
B Tier
| Name | Role | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Assassin | AGI speedster | Fastest movement and attacks with the best evasion ceiling, and Chain Lightning/Thunder Storm clear screens. Weakest armor: two or three boss swings kill you, so it rewards experience with the game more than a first run. |

How the ranking was made
ZENONIA 1 has only three classes, so this is a first-run recommendation rather than a meta. The order weighs three things: how forgiving the class is against the two fights that end most first saves (the Letter Carrier and Ghost of Ladon), how much gold it burns on potions, and how much the player needs to know about the game to make it work. Sources: the 2009 GameFAQs class threads, the 2010 Droid Gamers walkthrough builds, and the September 2026 Steam RPG Mechanic Guide, whose author is re-verifying the numbers on the PC version.
- Warrior first because heavy armor makes CON worth more, Berserk Spirit gives guaranteed criticals on demand, and the two-handed sword out-ranges nearly everything.
- Paladin second because Restore removes the potion economy; the price is the slowest kills in the level 40 to 60 stretch.
- Assassin third not because it is weak (it clears screens with Chain Lightning and outruns most attacks) but because two connected boss swings kill it, and evasion is a commitment, not a safety net.
Every class can finish the game and unlock all 44 achievements. Pick the playstyle you like and follow the matching build: Warrior, Paladin or Assassin. Full side-by-side numbers are on the class comparison.
