ZENONIA 1 Stats Explained: STR, CON, AGI and SPI

Data checked:

What one point gives

StatPer pointNotes
STR (Strength)+3 attack; +14 carry weightMain damage stat for Warrior and Paladin; also the only stat that raises the weight limit besides the Feather of Oblivion.
CON (Constitution)+30 max HPFlat gain, so each point matters more early than late. Defense from armor multiplies its value.
AGI / DEX (Dexterity)+0.50% hit rate; +0.20% critical rate; +0.15% evasionCriticals knock enemies back. Assassin passives let DEX partly replace STR as the damage stat.
SPI / STA (Spirit)+20 max SP; +1 max hungerEvery active skill costs SP and costs rise as skills level up, so nobody can ignore it entirely.

Derived values worth knowing

Elements

Weapons and armor can carry an element. Elemental attack and defense add to your numbers against the matching type, and each element also has an on-hit status chance:

ElementOn-hit chance
FireChance to burn: damage over time (target flashes red)
FrostChance to chill: slows movement
HolyChance to stun: target turns grey like a statue
Aphotic (Dark)Chance to curse: reversed movement

Gear tiers

Items come in five tiers: Normal, Magic, Rare, Unique, Epic. Anything above Normal can drop unidentified (a ? item) and needs an Examine Scroll before it can be equipped. Monsters drop gear at or below their own level, and the Dark Merchant sells unidentified Magic-to-Unique items at night.

Stat questions

Do all classes benefit from every stat?

Yes. Every stat also rises by 1 on each level-up, and the game can be finished on almost any spread. Neglecting a stat completely is what hurts: zero SPI means no skills, zero CON means boss swings one-shot you.

Is defense a flat reduction?

Testing by the author of the Steam RPG Mechanic Guide suggests defense is subtracted from each incoming hit, so 30 defense means 30 less damage per attack. That makes armor multiply the value of CON as you get closer to an enemy’s attack rating.

Should an Assassin put points in STR or AGI?

Both work. An Assassin passive lets AGI add damage at roughly 2 per point versus STR’s 3, while also buying hit rate, criticals and evasion. Going all-AGI means a low weight limit, so budget for the Feather of Oblivion.

Can I reset my stats?

Yes. The Stat Reset Stone and Skill Reset Stone are sold by the Item Gal (30,000 gold each in the original; the Steam version sells the old premium items for achievement points).
